During the installation of v9.2.1 of iRise Revision Manager a connection is attempted to the Definition Center that the software will be creating revisions from. If the Definition Center the Revision Manager software is attempting to connect to is running TLS over SSL (https) and is not protected by a certificate from a trusted external certificate authority (Verisign, Thawte, etc.) this step of the installation will fail without an additional manual step. This article details the manual step that you can perform mid-install of the Revision Manager software that will enable the connection and installation to complete successfully

Installation of iRise Revision Manager v9.2.1 continues to a point where the Revision Manager is trying to connect to the Definition Center to generate a security token. At this point in the installation a valid administrator users credentials are used to connect to the Definition Center and generate the security token.

For security purposes, the Revision Manager software will fail attempts to connect to any TLS over SSL protected Definition Center that is not protected by a certificate from a known and trusted root authority. Since the software has been freshly installed at this point it can only rely on external trusted root authorities. Attempting to connect to the Definition Center at this point will give an error message that the connection could not be completed.

At this point in the installation you need to make the new Revision Manager installation aware of the certificate authority used to create the certificate for the Definition Center. Fortunately this is a relatively easy process. Both pieces of software leverage the embedded JRE's cacerts file to contain the trusted root authorities. If you are running a TLS over SSL protected Definition Center you have already modified the c:\iRise\DefCenter\jvm64\jre\lib\security\cacerts file to contain these entries. Simply copy that cacerts file to the C:\iRiseRevisionManager\jvm64\jre\lib\security folder and continue with the installation. Your login to the DC from this step should now succeed and you can complete the installation.
