From v10.0 onwards, by default, the Editor location is set to the iRise cloud-based Editor. However, in some instances, an organization policy may require that a localEditor is used instead for an On Premise Definition Center. Another example of where you may have to switch to a local editor is if your organization restricts access to the internet.
This article explains how to change the location of the Editor from cloud-based to the local Definition Center Editor.
How do I determine which Editor is being used?
It's easy to identify which version is being used. Simply open a project in Editor and check the URL in the address bar. If it states editor.irise.com
, then you are using the cloud Editor:
If it states the name of the server such as localhost, your DC server hostname or an IP address, you're using the local version:

Stop the iRise Definition Center service.
Open the file
x:\iRise\DefCenter\Tomcat\conf\irise.properties
with a text editor.Look for the section near the bottom labelled
Editor Configuration
.Change the
irise.editor.location=
property from cloud to local.Ensure that
editor.irise.com
is listed in the propertyirise.server.redirect.whitelist
Save the file and restart the iRise Definition Center service.
Note: To benefit from regular Editor updates and features, iRise recommends you use the cloud-based Editor where possible.
