From v10.0 onwards, by default, the Editor location is set to the iRise cloud-based Editor. However, in some instances, an organization policy may require that a localEditor is used instead for an On Premise Definition Center. Another example of where you may have to switch to a local editor is if your organization restricts access to the internet.

This article explains how to change the location of the Editor from cloud-based to the local Definition Center Editor.

How do I determine which Editor is being used?

It's easy to identify which version is being used. Simply open a project in Editor and check the URL in the address bar. If it states editor.irise.com , then you are using the cloud Editor:

If it states the name of the server such as localhost, your DC server hostname or an IP address, you're using the local version:

Instructions

  1. Stop the iRise Definition Center service.

  2. Open the file x:\iRise\DefCenter\Tomcat\conf\irise.properties  with a text editor.

  3. Look for the section near the bottom labelled Editor Configuration .

  4. Change the irise.editor.location=  property from cloud to local.

  5. Ensure that editor.irise.com  is listed in the property irise.server.redirect.whitelist

  6. Save the file and restart the iRise Definition Center service.

Note: To benefit from regular Editor updates and features, iRise recommends you use the cloud-based Editor where possible. If you need to use a local editor, please contact Support to obtain the latest Editor updates for your version, and you'll be provided with a link to the files and manual instructions on how to apply the Editor update.
