iRise Definition Center | Studio | Reader v6.x.x and up

Summary:

This article describes how to address the message that an iRise product is already installed, even after uninstalling the software. When running the installer, you may encounter the below error message:

 The likely cause of this is that there is a reference to iRise products in the hidden ZeroG file.

Resolution:

 The Zero G Registry folder is a hidden directory located in C:\Program Files (or C:\Program Files (x86) if using Win 7 64-bit).

 If you are unable to see the Zero G Registry folder below, you will need to modify your folder options to show hidden files and folders.

 1. Go to Tools->Folder Options->View
 2. Select the radio button for 'Show hidden files and folders'
 3. Click on the OK button

Within the Zero G Registry folder, open the .com.zerog.registry.xml file with WordPad or Notepad++ (if installed). You will need to look through the file to determine if a deletion or modification is necessary. If there are any other products besides iRise listed, you will need to modify the file. If the only products listed are related to iRise (Definition Center, Studio, Reader, Connect, etc) then a deletion of the .com.zerog.registry.xml file is appropriate.

1. Deleting the .com.zerog.registry.xml file

If you have determined that there are no other products listed in the .com.zerog.registry.xml file, you can delete the file. Make sure that you are deleting the .com.zerog.registry.xml file, not the Zero G Registry directory. If you are unsure that a delete is the appropriate step to take, you can rename the .com.zerog.registry.xml file instead of delete, or contact us. Once the .com.zerog.registry.xml is deleted or renamed, you should be able to launch the iRise installer without issue.

1. Modifying the .com.zerog.registry.xml file

If you have determined that there are other products listed in the .com.zerog.registry.xml file, it needs to be modified. With the file opened in WordPad you will need to delete specific sections of text that relate to iRise products. Take a backup of the file prior to editing.

 You will be identifying the product name, and deleting the paragraph of data that relates to it. Once the product name is identified, delete from <product name= .... to </product>. The section of data will look something like the following:

You should also delete any iRise '<components id= ... ' listed in the <components> .... </components> section towards the bottom of the file.

 Once the modifications are made, save the file. You should be able to launch the iRise installer without issue.

If you have any concerns over the above, please email the .com.zerog.registry.xml file to support@irise.com and we'll gladly walk you through it.
